Toast Window Needs Your Help!
Urgent! The Breakfast Club needs some parent volunteers.
Did your child grab a piece of toast from the Breakfast Club this morning?
Many do: this venue is very popular with the kids at Deep Cove School. Every day, a person from St John’s United Church comes into our school to prepare toast for our children. We would really like to have one parent volunteer every morning to team up with our wonderful church volunteers, to support them and show that we appreciate their generous involvement in our school. This job doesn’t take much time (once a week from 8:15 to 8:45) and can be done with your child. There are lots of good things going for the breakfast club:
- - it brings the community into our “community school”
- - it allows the late risers who are too sleepy to eat enough breakfast at home not to start school hungry. It is a known fact that a hungry child does not perform as well in school.
- - our kids love it
Please phone Martine Lunke (656-5658) to volunteer.

Lunch Time One Two Club
The Lunch Time 1-2 Club is an opportunity for all children in grades 1 & 2 to participate in an activity program during big recess ( 11:25a to 11:55a). We provide an area to play a number of activities, guided by parent volunteers. The club provides the primary grades a place that they can go to and call their own and know that they will feel comfortable playing there. The activities offered are both physical and creative and range from skipping & ball games to drawing & colouring. We meet outside the door to the mini-gym on Tuesdays & Thursdays and plan to continue the program through until the middle of June 2006.
This is a wonderful opportunity to come and 'play' with your child and their friends. We are always looking for more volunteers and would love to have you drop in any time you are free. Come re-live the games you used to play and better yet, teach them to the children so that you can enjoy them together.
